Public Information Policy

Federal law requires departments to post summary information about their degree programs including student demographics, tuition and fees, time to degree, and accreditation status. Additionally, programs accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) are required to provide reliable information to the public. Programs must report on accreditation status and their programs performance. This information is to help potential students make informed application decisions. Below is summary information for our undergraduate degree programs.

BSLA Professional Degree

ACCREDITATION Status

The BSLA is a professionally accredited degree program, accredited by the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB). For more on LAAB visit their website: http://www.asla.org/accreditationlaab.aspx. Additional Accreditation information can be found at: http://la.wisc.edu/undergraduate-programs/professional-design-and-planning-program/bsla-accreditation-status/

TIME TO DEGREE

The BSLA is designed as a 4-year program. The degree requires that students follow a studio course sequence, and the majority of studios are offered only once each year. If students begin the major in the fall of their first year in college and follow the 4-year plan for the “Landscape Architecture Degree,” they will be able to complete the degree in four years. Students who declare the major in their second or third year at the university will still need to follow the 4-year studio sequence. This can result in a total undergraduate career of five to seven years, depending on when they join the program and what courses they have completed. Many such students also complete a certificate program or a second major or participate in a paid internship or other employment. Current BSLA statistics have students completing degrees in 4 to 4.5 years.
